Is Progressive Financial Services calling incessantly?
Who is Progressive Financial Services, you ask? Progressive Financial Services is a third-party debt collection agency. A third-party debt collection agency (otherwise referred to as a debt collector) is an agent hired by your original creditors to collect debts you owe. Debt collectors either purchase delinquent debt accounts, or collect on behalf of original lenders and they are infamous for deploying all the resources within their power to get you to settle any outstanding debts that need to be repaid.
You may think that ignoring the phone and pretending like the problem doesn’t exist is the right way to go, but you are probably in this mess with a third-party debt collector because you also ignored your original lender. Your original creditors reached out to a debt collection agency because you did not respond to them or act on their demands.
Regardless of why your account has gone into collections, debt collection agencies are nevertheless not permitted to harass you. They are not allowed to call you at odd hours of the day, threaten, insult, intimidate, or use any of their infamous unethical tactics to bully you into paying up a debt that you owe.
If you have been facing any of the above-mentioned acts of harassment from your debt collector, the law is on your side. If a debt collector has violated any of your consumer rights in their dealings with you, you have a right to sue them for a statutory compensation up to $1000, you may also get part, or all of your debt waived. Top 3 reviews for Progressive Financial Services
According to consumeraffairs.com, people have a lot to say about Progressive Financial Services and their debt collection tactics. Here are the top 3 things real people who have had dealings with Progressive Financial Services debt collection agency had to say about them:
My daughter was charged with a debt to a school she didn’t attend. They sent a threatening letter to her. When she called to find out what was going on employees were rude and condescending. Hung up on her 3 times and when asked to speak to a supervisor, a random guy came on whom was more condescending than the employees. My daughter was told to take her ** to Montclair and find out what was going on. Not their problem. This seems to me like fraud. – Karen
I recently checked my credit score and saw I had a derogatory account from Progressive Financial Services for 150$ or so. I looked them up and saw they were a debt collector for other companies so I didnt really know who initiated the charge. I read a lot of bad reviews about this business not upholding their end of the deal or taking forever to complete transactions. So I was fearful of calling them and getting this resolved. I ended up calling them and they told me how Cox billed me for not paying a bill from 8 years ago! They said I could pay the fee in 2 installments or pay a one time fee of 99$. I was very sceptical but also relieved. – Jay
I paid off my account 6 months ago. Yesterday they took money out of my banking account because they never closed it. So in order to get my money back and have them reimburse me, I have to send them my bank statement! Then call back to close my account. – Lynn
